Celebrating the Eternal Spirit of Mithila in the United Kingdom
The Mithila Cultural Society UK is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to serving the Maithil community from India and Nepal who have made their home across the United Kingdom.
Mithila is not just a land—it is Sita Janmabhoomi, the soil sanctified by Janaki herself, whose grace and courage continue to inspire the Ramayan and all of humanity. “मिथिला धरती अपन छै, सीता-रामक संस्मरण छै” (Mithila is our sacred soil, an eternal remembrance of Sita and Ram).
Rooted in this divine heritage, our mission is to preserve and celebrate Mithila’s timeless identity—the lyrical sweetness of the Maithili language, the sacred symbolism of Madhubani art, and centuries-old traditions of literature, music, and philosophy that embody dignity, devotion, and wisdom.
Through cultural, educational, and charitable initiatives, we carry forward the essence of Mithila—“लोक-संस्कारक गाथा, माटिक सुगंध” (the story of our people, the fragrance of our soil). We foster pride in our roots, build bridges of friendship and integration, and nurture the well-being of our community in the UK. In partnership with local councils and national bodies, we also extend Mithila’s spirit of seva (selfless service) to the wider world.
Our journey is one of remembrance and renewal—honouring the songs of our ancestors, the blessings of Janakpur, and the eternal virtues of Sita-Ram—while gifting a living legacy to the generations of Maithils growing up in the United Kingdom.
